Meeting Agenda

Since the 2001 Annual Meeting, the NLII has been experimenting with conferences and meetings that are more participatory and interactive. This one will continue our new tradition, thus there are only three plenary sessions. We have continued two new popular types of sessions introduced in 2001:

  • featured sessions: where topics that are key NLII themes are featured (choose among three); and
  • companion concurrent sessions: that are designed for follow-up discussion. These provide a smaller, more interactive group setting, facilitator(s) who are experts in the field, and an opportunity for attendees to ask questions, brainstorm, and recommend support or services that the NLII could provide to help make progress in a particular area (an NLII staff person also attends to take notes and answer any NLII-specific questions).
  • To get the most out of a companion concurrent session, plan to attend the featured session on the topic first.

Another element to help you get the most out of the conference is continuing our new tradition of supplemental readings for before and after the meeting. We've asked our plenary and featured session speakers to recommend white papers, Web sites, articles, and other resources that would be helpful to attendees with an interest in a particular topic. These readings will be listed them on this Web page as we receive them.

Finally, in response to your suggestions from last year, we've scheduled longer and more frequent breaks to give you more opportunities to network with your peers. Please let us know how you like the changes when completing your evaluation form.

Pre-Meeting Reading

Please review the pre-meeting reading prior to your arrival at the NLII Annual Meeting in San Diego. It will help you get the most out of your conference experience.
