The Jane N. Ryland Fellowship Program helps develop future IT leaders in higher education by providing opportunities for professionals to attend EDUCAUSE conferences and leadership training events. The fellowships recognize a combination of past achievement, personal and institutional commitment, potential benefit, and financial need. The program is named for Jane N. Ryland, who, as president of CAUSE from 1986 to 1998, recognized the importance of educational programs to support and develop information technology professionals throughout higher education.

Recipients of the Balestri Scholarships are:

  • Credence Baker, Tarleton State University, Texas
  • Jodi Casanova, Northern State University, South Dakota

The Diane Balestri Memorial Scholarship is designated to help women new to EDUCAUSE attend an event in order to become involved in the community. The scholarship honors the memory of Diane P. Balestri, former vice president for Computing and Information Services at Vassar College, who died in 2002. Diane was a humanities scholar, academic dean, and IT professional who was a pioneer in the use of information technologies to support effective teaching and learning, an extraordinary collaborator, and an enthusiastic mentor of new members to her professional world.
