Boulder, Colorado--EDUCAUSE, the association for information technology in higher education, announces the appointment of Garth Jordan as vice president for operations.

Jordan comes to EDUCAUSE from his position as senior vice president of marketing, communications, and resource development for Mercy Housing, Inc., a Denver-area nonprofit focused on providing affordable housing. Prior to that, he held the position of vice president of membership, sales, and marketing for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). During his six years with AORN, he led a renewal of member outreach and services, including planning and implementation of online publications, professional development programs, communities of interest, and marketing efforts. As a result of these innovations, the association experienced year-on-year membership growth for the first time in over a decade accompanied by a nearly 50 percent increase in annual revenue during Jordan’s tenure.

As vice president for operations, Jordan will provide executive leadership for functions including:

  • Conference and Educational Services
  • Information Services
  • Member Services
  • Marketing Communications

In announcing Jordan’s selection, EDUCAUSE President and CEO Diana Oblinger stated, “After an extensive national search that attracted a very impressive set of candidates, I am delighted Garth Jordan has agreed to join EDUCAUSE as vice president for operations. His experience and significant accomplishments in association management will ensure that EDUCAUSE continues to build the capacity for innovation necessary to successfully meet member needs. His energy, enthusiasm, and leadership will enable us to tackle new challenges and opportunities.”

On his acceptance of the appointment, Jordan said, “I am very pleased to have this opportunity to work with all the EDUCAUSE team members. The staff's dedication to both the organization's mission and member satisfaction is clear. I am certain that together we will bring innovative products and services to bear for our members and further enhance the status of EDUCAUSE as an indispensable resource for the higher education community.”

Jordan will be based in the association’s Boulder, Colorado, office. He assumes his position on June 15.
