Joanne M. Kossuth Appointed to EDUCAUSE Board of Directors
Kossuth has been active in the EDUCAUSE community for many years, most recently as chair of the EDUCAUSE 2009 Program Committee. Her service includes terms on the EDUCAUSE Professional Development Committee, the Ryland Fellowship Advisory Committee, the Recognition Committee, and the program committees for many EDUCAUSE events. Kossuth also chaired the 20-20 Advisory Group, a committee that worked to define the professional development needs of next-generation IT leaders and how EDUCAUSE might best address them. As vice president for operations and CIO at the Olin College of Engineering, Kossuth oversees many institutional functions including information technology, planning and project management, campus services, facilities, and human resources. As Olin’s founding CIO, Kossuth designed and implemented fully converged, leading-edge technology facilities and practices from “the ground up,” allowing her to bring unique insights on collaboration and innovation to the board. EDUCAUSE President Diana Oblinger stated, “Joanne Kossuth’s record of community leadership and service makes her the perfect choice for this responsibility. She understands EDUCAUSE and the needs and interests of higher education IT professionals, which will enable her to contribute greatly to board dialogue on the association’s present and future.” Kossuth holds a bachelor of arts degree from Holy Cross College and a master of science degree from Lesley University, with a concentration in applied management (her thesis was on management information systems for small businesses). Her board term runs through 2010. About EDUCAUSE
