April 30, 2009, Washington, D.C.—EDUCAUSE, the association for information technology in higher education, has announced that Vice President Mark Luker is leaving EDUCAUSE to pursue other opportunities.

During his time at EDUCAUSE, Luker created the Net@EDU program, won grants to support the development of advanced networking, and established the EDUCAUSE Washington policy presence. In recent years, he has been an advocate for a national broadband policy, network neutrality, and cyberinfrastructure. He has also served as the interface between the association and key federal agencies and organizations such as NSF.

EDUCAUSE President Diana Oblinger stated, “On behalf of the EDCAUSE community, I would like to thank Mark for his service to the association and its members. His efforts in support of IT, higher education, and EDUCAUSE are greatly appreciated. We wish him well as he moves into the next phase of his career.”

Rodney Petersen will manage the EDUCAUSE Washington, D.C., office on an interim basis while the association conducts a search for the vice president position. He may be reached at rpetersen@educause.edu.
