Andrea Norris

Andrea Norris is the Director of the Division of Information Systems and the Deputy Chief Information Officer at the National Science Foundation. She also serves as the NSF Senior Security Officer. Her responsibilities include management of the Foundation's corporate information technology (IT) environment, including applications, networks, help desks, phones, email, the NSF data center, and cybersecurity. While at NSF, Ms. Norris has focused the Foundation's IT strategy for next generation electronic Government capabilities and implemented many improvements in operational services. She is also the lead for the Foundation's Technology and Tools element of the Foundation-wide Business Analysis strategic planning initiative.

Prior to joining NSF in 2001, Ms. Norris was the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), providing senior leadership and management oversight of the agency's $2 billion investment in information technology. While at NASA, Ms. Norris led the formulation of the Agency's "eNASA" strategy addressing e-Business initiatives, knowledge management, collaborative technologies, e-Learning, and new business models for managing corporate infrastructure. She also managed the agency-wide seat management outsourcing initiative and managed the agency-wide Y2K Program. In addition, Ms. Norris served as the Chair of the Advanced Technology team to assess management improvements required in response to the Mars Program and Space Shuttle spacecraft incidents and losses. She was also a key member of the NASA Chief Engineer's Agency wide team tasked with formulating program and project management policies, procedures, and best practices governing the agency's complex science and engineering programs.

Prior to joining the Federal Government, Ms. Norris worked for Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc., where she led and supported a wide range of engagements delivering management and technical solutions. Prior to joining industry, Ms. Norris served on the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control (Grace Commission), a Presidential Commission that recommended how to incorporate private sector efficiencies in the Federal government.

Ms. Norris has a M.B.A. with a major in Information Systems Management from the George Washington University and a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
