Anthony Curtis (University of North Carolina at Pembroke)Professor Pembroke, North Carolina UNITED STATES Anthony CurtisBiographyAnthony Curtis is professor of Mass Communication and Faculty Senator at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He has the Ph.D. in mass communication, M.A. political science, B.A. journalism. He is committed to student-centered education. Dr. Curtis is a professional writer, editor, publisher, producer, director and media manager with extensive experience in broadcast, newspapers, magazines, books, newsletters, online publication, public relations, advertising. He has been editor of national magazines. He has written 72 books about computers, communications, space and astronomy, including a title chosen Outstanding Academic Book by the American Library Association. Dr. Curtis founded and edits Space Today Online and is a space policy analyst asked regularly by media to analyze events. Dr. Curtis is an innovator in academic information engineering, online education, and global computer-mediated mass communication. He is skilled in creating multidimensional learning environments on the Web and has constructed three 3,000-page Web sites from scratch. The professor has extensive experience as a resident of Second Life, a user-built online community simulation where he has delivered academic courses and constructed his university's campus and a large public park. In the past, Dr. Curtis was press secretary and speechwriter for a governor of Pennsylvania, state public relations director for a presidential election campaign, executive assistant to a university president and chief of staff in her office, director of strategic planning, dean for academic information services, webmaster, and member of several academic re-accreditation committees for colleges and universities.
