Biography

Chris Boniforti is the Chief Information Officer at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. A member of the President’s cabinet, Boniforti advises the university’s managing body on technology initiatives and strategic infrastructure planning. In addition to managing the network and information services for the campus, he has directed the design and rollout of an open source student portal and is now overseeing phase two implementation to accommodate the specialized needs of Lynn’s faculty and staff. A key member of the campus’ crisis and hurricane response teams, Boniforti also co-chairs the university’s Academic Spaces Taskforce and supervises Lynn’s Center for Instructional Innovation – an on-site clinic for melding each classroom’s visual and structural attributes with its virtual and technological components.

Boniforti was named South Florida’s “Top CIO” at the South Florida Business Journal's 2007 Technology Awards. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and has an MBA from Lynn University. His technical certifications include PMI and SANS GIAC.

He has been featured in Campus Technology magazine, Security Administrators Network Systems (SANS), and contributed an editorial in August 2006 on the utilization of open source technology to Ed Tech Magazine.
