E. Michael StamanE. Michael StamanBiographyDr. E. Michael Staman holds the Peyton Anderson Endowed Chair in Information Technology at Macon State College where, in addition to his teaching assignments, he works extensively with local governments and business communities on activities focused on accelerating the deployment of broadband communications throughout the region. Prior to coming to Macon State Staman was the Chief Information Officer and Vice Chancellor for Information Technology for the University System of Georgia. During the 1990's he served as President of CICNet, Inc., the NSF regional network for the CIC universities. He founded the Monterey Futures Group, which created the framework for what is now known as the Internet 2 project. Staman also created the NSF-sponsored Rural Datafication Initiative, an 8-state collaboration focused on extending the Internet to rural America. He has twice given expert testimony on this issue to the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Space, Science and Technology.
