Eric J. KunnenCoordinator of Instructional Technologies Grand Rapids, Michigan UNITED STATES Eric J. KunnenBiographyEric is a Coordinator of Instructional Technologies at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His primary role focuses on supporting faculty professional development around using technology in teaching and learning. Eric is a lead member of the Blackboard Implementation Team at Grand Rapids Community College. GRCC has been using Blackboard since 1999 - back then it was Blackboard CourseInfo 4 - and has been involved in system administration, project management for upgrades, faculty training, and end user support. Eric is a frequent participant on listservs, an Ask Dr. C moderator, is involved in beta testing and the Product Development Partnership Program, and is a member of the Blackboard Idea Exchange steering committee. In addition to working with Blackboard at GRCC, Eric is involved in many instructional technology initiatives including: Podcasting, iTunes U, Online & Hybrid Course Support, GRCC's Faculty Laptop Project, and other projects. As a member of the Learning Academy at GRCC, Eric provides coordination, leadership, faculty support, and training for: in class technologies, mobile computing, new and emerging instructional technologies, and the use of Blackboard. In doing this work, Eric attends conferences, reads journals, and is involved in research projects related to technology and it's use in teaching. Eric works to disseminate this information to faculty and other groups on campus through demonstrations, meetings, his GRCC blog, and other web sites. Specifically, Eric has a passion for, and works to lead, support, and coordinate the following: 1) Web 2.0 Applications in Teaching and Learning Eric has a background in teaching Computer Science and Biology at the secondary level and a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology.
