Ethan Benatan (Marylhurst University)Ethan BenatanBiographyEthan Benatan is the vice president for IT and CIO at Marylhurst University, a Catholic liberal arts university in the Portland, Oregon area. He previously held positions at Reed College and Duquesne University, and (as a graduate student) at the University of Pittsburgh and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Ethan has presented in many settings including meetings of EDUCAUSE, ACM/SIGUCCS, NWACC, CLAC, and AMICAL. He served on the EDUCAUSE 20/20 ad hoc advisory panel and the ACM/SIGUCCS board, and was a fellow of the Frye Institute in 2006. He served on the program committee for the EDUCAUSE 2008 Annual Conference, and as faculty at the EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program from 2007-2011. He currently serves as department editor for the New Horizons column of EDUCAUSE Review. Ethan received his Ph.D. in computational biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999, for work in the areas of artificial intelligence and three-dimensional protein structure.
