Biography

As Associate Director (Simmons College, Academic Technology), Gail collaborates with faculty and administrators on the development of new projects/initiatives, brainstorming ideas for curricular innovation, and to envision future directions for academic technology. In addition, she helps develop opportunities for sharing and professional development among faculty and staff, including an annual faculty institute, faculty lunch discussion series, interest groups, and an annual showcase of innovative faculty work.

Gail's interests include: culturally-responsive teaching, intercultural learning, education reform, qualitative research, and fostering learning communities online. She has a Ph.D. from Indiana University and ten years of experience developing, implementing, and assessing online educational projects. Since 2005, she has served as the ePortfolio Sigmaster for NERCOMP and as a member of that organization's annual conference planning committee.

In 2006 the online faculty institute that Gail co-developed, "Learning About Learning Online," received the Exemplary Course Award from the Greenhouse Exemplary Course Project. She is on the 2007 Exemplary Course Project's proposal review committee. In 1998 she received the Dorothy Howard education award for CARTS, a online resource for educators interested in incorporating cultural diversity and local culture into their teaching.

Previously, Gail was a faculty member with George Mason University’s Institute for Educational Transformation, Projects Manager for Northeastern University’s EdTech Center, and Learning and Technology Specialist for an online Masters in Science Education degree program developed in collaboration by TERC and Lesley University. She contines to advise TERC on the development of online courses offered through Tufts University's Flucrum Institute.
