Biography

Geoffrey Cain is the Director of Instructional Design at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA. He was recently an Instructional Designer at Tacoma Community College where he played a significant role in the development of online learning, faculty training, and instructional technology. His recent presentations and seminars include "Design in Mind: Principles for Creating Classroom Materials," "Concept Maps and Brainstorming," and numerous presentations on blogging, podcasting, Second Life, and Web 2.0. Geoffrey is also a former English teacher for Tacoma Community College and elsewhere which has significantly informed his instructional design practice. He has taught developmental English, composition, and grammar classes at TCC and in community colleges in California. He has also co-taught a Health Information Management student success course that utilized web 2.0 tools for collaborative learning. He completed his M.S in Education with an emphasis in online learning at California State University, Hayward, a graduate certificate in online learning and teaching, and a BA in English Literature.
