Harriet WatkinsHarriet WatkinsBiographyBio of Harriet E. Watkins Ms. Watkins currently works at the University of Texas at Arlington. As the Manager of Instructional Design, she oversees the design and development of online course materials at the Center for Distance Education. Creating course content, materials, and assessments, that meet specified learning objectives/goals. Some of her tasks include interacting with professors in the creation of course outlines and course content to ensure the instructional strategy that has been established for the project is applied to the course. Before coming to Texas, Ms Watkins lived in Miami, Florida for 20 years. During that time she worked as a software trainer to over 3000 United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) military and civilian personnel in software applications and Defense Department proprietary computer applications, in addition to the operation of three local area networks within the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. She was responsible for creating and developing software curriculum as well as CBTs (Computer Based Training). Ms. Watkins conducted face-to-face classroom instruction and one-on-one specialized instruction for all USSOUTHCOM personnel. Prior to that, Ms. Watkins worked in the Public Relations field holding a variety of jobs. One of which was working for Miami International Airport for 10 years in the Public Affairs office. During that time she met many dignitaries and celebrities while performing her job duties. Ms. Watkins is a graduate of Leadership Miami, a prestigious organization that is part of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce focused on developing future leaders. She currently works as faculty advisor to the university chapter of Golden Key. She earned a BA in Interpersonal Communications from Trinity International University and a M.Ed from American Intercontinental University in Instructional Technology. Ms. Watkins is the mother of two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer and grandmother to one beautiful granddaughter.
