Joanne A. SchneiderJoanne A. SchneiderBiographyJoanne A. Schneider is the University Librarian and Professor in the Libraries at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Before coming to Colgate she was Director of Library and Information Services at Saint Michael's College and held a succession of positions in library and information services at Middlebury College, the Jefferson-Madison Regional Libraries, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the American Bankers Association. Her participation in a number of successful collaborations includes redefining the merged relationship of the library and IT at Saint Michael's College and at Middlebury College and, for both, leading institutional participation in digital project planning with outside organizations. Joanne has been involved in planning and constructing new library and technology facilities at Colgate and Middlebury and developing conceptual programs for proposed archival facilities at the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History and at Saint Michael's College. She has presented and published in a number of venues on topics such as library/IT mergers, digital futures, strategic planning, and the economics of publishing. Joanne serves as a member of the Academic Libraries Advisory Committee for the Council of Libraries and Information Resources (CLIR), on the Executive Committee of the ConnectNY Consortium Directors Council, as a board member of NYLINK, as a management advisor to the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, and is a fellow of the Frye Institute for Leadership in Information Technology, inaugural class of 2000. Her personal interests include fast walking, hiking, gardening, and working with Tibetan Buddhist organizations.
