John A. AlexanderAssociate Director, SHANTI Charlottesville, Virginia UNITED STATES John A. AlexanderBiographyJohn Alexander is currently the Associate Director of SHANTI (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts Network of Technological Initiatives) which is a newly established faculty-led center at the University of Virginia. This work necessitates his immersion in many of the most interesting and advanced projects at the University, a prospect not unlike the proverbial briar patch. John's educational background in the humanities, his experience teaching at four institutions of higher education, and his experiences as a general manager at UVa for almost 30 years have almost prepared him for his current responsibilities. Currently, John teaches a course on Underground Hip-Hop as a Fellow in the Hereford Residential College.
