Joseph StorchAssistant Counsel, Office of University Counsel Albany, New York UNITED STATES Joseph StorchBiographyJoseph Storch is an Assistant Counsel at the State University of New York Office of University Counsel. In addition to campus representation, he concentrates on domestic and workplace violence policies, campus safety, financial aid, FERPA, and the legal issues created by the use and development of emerging technologies. He attended the State University of New York, College at Oswego where he served as Vice President of the Student Association and received a 2002 Chancellors Award for Student Excellence. Joe graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002 with degrees in Political Science and Rhetorical Communications and was selected to speak at the Closing Torchlight Ceremony. After working as an Admissions Counselor, he attended Cornell Law School where he served as Chancellor of the Moot Court Board. During law school, he spent two summers working in higher education law, first for the Cornell University Counsels Office and then for the SUNY Office of University Counsel. After graduating, he clerked for the New York State Appellate Division, 3rd Department. Joe spends his down time visiting used bookstores and volunteering with Temple Israel, the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York, University at Albany Hillel, and Prevent Child Abuse New York. His most recent publication, Jailing Ourselves: Standards Used for Declaring United States Citizens Enemy Combatants, was recently published by Court Review: The Journal of the American Judges Association.
