Biography

Marc Overcash is deputy chief information officer of the Research and Academic Health Sciences IT Division and co-director of the biomedical informatics program for the Atlanta Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Emory University. Before joining Emory, he managed the Emerging Internet Technologies Group at Harvard Medical School and worked in many roles, including interim chief enterprise architect, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Mr. Overcash has experience leading initiatives across diverse and research-focused institutions. At the CDC, he helped to design and implement the National Center for Public Health Informatics, chaired the public health informatics research agenda committee, and led the technical design and implementation of the Flu Vaccine Finder, an application built to assist local, state, and federal health agencies in allocating vaccines during the 2004 flu vaccine shortage. At Emory University, he teaches public health informatics course and is building a new central division to support and advance research through the use of information technology and research informatics.
