Melanie Feltner-Reichert

Biography

Melanie Feltner-Reichert is Digital Coordinator of an IMLS-funded digitization project at the University of Tennessee Libraries, From Pi Beta Phi to Arrowmont: Bringing Education and Economic Development to the Great Smoky Mountains, 1910-2004. The project will preserve local cultural heritage and make it freely accessible online via a fully-searchable digital collection, available in mid-2006. Melanie manages the digitization and metadata for the project, as well as maintains the website.
A recent graduate of the School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Melanie holds an M.S. in Information Sciences. She is also an active member of the Commission for Women at the university, and acts as consultant in their planning and implementation of an organizational digital repository. Areas of professional interest include institutional repository development, open-access alternatives to traditional publishing, and promoting consistent metadata practices.
