Biography

Dee Childs is Deputy CIO at Louisiana State University. As Executive Director of User Support and Student IT Enablement, Dee led the creation of LSU's knowledge base GROK, the Information Commons, a new Faculty Technology Center and the Scientific Visualization Services Center. Dee's portfolio also includes enterprise software licensing and distribution, student technology centers, customer and departmental services, instructional technologies, and media and graphic services. She recently directed the conversion of LSU's course management system to Moodle and continues to help guide Moodle development.

Prior to coming to LSU, Dee held a variety of positions in both private industry and higher education. Initially a software developer, Dee also served as trainer, e-mail administrator, manager of residential technologies, and Director of Technology Services for the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Indiana University.

Dee is currently a member of the Educause Evolving Technologies Committee. A Certified Information Systems Security Professional, she is also the author of several trade computing books.
