Michael BurkeTechnologies Integration Specialist Knoxville, Tennessee UNITED STATES Michael BurkeBiographyMichael A. Burke, Ph.D., is a Technologies Integration Specialist at the Innovative Technology Center (ITC) at the University of Tennessee. For over ten years I have worked with a team of professionals at the ITC, assisting faculty to integrate various computer technologies - from basic applications to online course management systems - into their teaching practice. My teaching and research interests include student - faculty and student - student interaction in mediated learning environments, developing materials and methods for mediated learning environments, and developing methods to assist faculty in defining and integrating effective uses of instructional technologies in the teaching practice. For the past five years I have been a member of the Wireless Instructional Initiatives team at the ITC, assisting faculty in planning, implementing and evaluating collaborative learning environments supported by wireless networking technologies. Current major initiatives with which I am involved include instructional podcasting, smart classroom and learning space design, technologies to facilitate mobile learning, evaluation of synchronous collaboration tools, and the use of technologies to support international collaboration for teaching, learning, and research.
