Michael HitesAssociate Vice President of AITS Champaign, Illinois UNITED STATES Michael HitesBiographyEducation Experience Dr. Hites provides leadership, vision, strategy, overall management and accountability for enterprise-wide administrative information technology services within the University of Illinois multi-campus environment. He ensures the quality, transparency, customer orientation, and timeliness of AITS services. Previously, Dr. Hites led university strategic planning and information technology for New Mexico State University five-campus, land-grant system of 27,000 students. He was responsible for system-level IT policy, information services, telephone and data networks, application development, training, system administration, PC services, institutional research, distance education services, and advising to NMSU leadership. Michael is an active partner with government, and he helped design the shared, statewide course management system available to all of NM higher education, which is now a part of the governor's K-20 cyber academy initiative. An ERP veteran, Michael gained national recognition for directing the implementation of NMSU's systems, including Computerworld Premier100 IT Leaders. He has been active with both I2 and NLR and helped plan the El Paso/Las Cruces NLR POP and the I-25 fiber network. Michael is on several corporate boards and has leadership roles in many national organizations. He is an avid RV'er and motorcyclist and is waiting for more games to come out for the PS3.
