Michael Winkler (University of Pennsylvania)Director, Information Technology and Digital Development Philadelphia, Pennsylvania UNITED STATES Michael WinklerBiographyMichael is the Director for Information Technologies and Digital Development at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. As director, Michael guides the Librariesâ digital library development, information technology infrastructure, learning management systems, and strategic technology planning. Before becoming Director in 2005, Michael was the Web Manager for the University Libraries at Penn from 1999 to 2005. In addition to his current responsibilities, Michael is the Past Chair of the Kuali OLE Functional Council (2009-2011), and has been with the OLE project since inception. Michael is currently Vice-Chair of Kuali Days 2012. Before coming to Penn, Michael was Head of Systems and Projects Librarian at North Carolina State University(1994-99). He served as the first network manager for the Library at the University of Massachusetts in Boston for 5 years. Michael earned a Masters in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and has a degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts and a certificate in Data Communications from Northeastern University.
