Patricia A. SteelePatricia A. SteeleBiographyPatricia A. Steele is the Ruth Lilly Dean of University Libraries at Indiana University Bloomington, a position she has held since 2005. Prior to this, she was the Associate Dean of Libraries, Head, Customer and Access Services and Library Public Services and Coordinator of Academic Information and Customer Services, and Executive Associate Dean and Director of Academic Information Services. She oversees a budget of over $30 million to support the combined holdings at Indiana University Bloomington of more than 8 million volumes in over 350 languages, 485 databases, and 43,000 e-journals. She currently serves on the Negotiating Team for the CIC/Google Agreement and was elected to serve as the secretary of the Digital Library Federation Executive Committee. She was the cofounder of HathiTrust and serves on its Executive Committee as well as being a founding board member of Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (CLOCKSS). Her interests include library space, building partnerships, changes in scholarly communication, cooperative print, and digital collections.
