Biography

Randy joined the Colorado College staff for the second time in April, 1999. During the ’96-’97 academic year, he spent a year at CC as an American Council on Education Fellow. Randy earned his B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. from Purdue in that same field. He also holds an M.B.A. from Northeastern University. Randy is a retired Air Force Colonel and spent much of his career at the Air Force Academy where he was a tenured professor of aeronautics and served as head of the Academy’s Center for Educational Excellence. Other Air Force assignments included Air Force Systems Command, the Air Force Propulsion Laboratory, and Air Force Space Command. He has authored numerous papers and articles on both technical matters and pedagogy and is co-author of a book on aircraft design. At CC, Randy has oversight of Information Technology Services and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. Beyond the college, he is an experienced consultant-evaluator for the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges – an information technology consortium composed of 62 selective liberal arts colleges in the United States. He enjoys racquet sports of all kinds and is an aspiring watercolor artist.
