Biography

SANDRA BRAMAN is a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an ECAR Fellow. Braman brings to the Symposium 20 years of research on the impacts of information technologies. With support from the Ford and Rockefeller foundations, she has studied the economic and legal forces that affect the use of IT, research methods for studying IT, and the translation of research results into practice. Braman has published over 50 scholarly journal articles, book chapters, and books, including the edited collections Communication Researchers and Policy-making, The Emergent Global Information Policy Regime, Biotechnology and Communication: The Meta.Technologies of Information, and Globalization, Communication, and Transnational Civil Society. Current work includes the book and analysis of university curricula related to IT as well as responsibilities as a Fulbright Senior Specialist.
