Sharon P. Pitt

Biography

Sharon P. Pitt is Executive Director of the Division for Instructional Technology (DoIT) at George Mason University. DoIT supports excellence in research, teaching and learning at Mason. DoIT supports technology classrooms, technology learning and study spaces, learning management systems, Virginia's virtual computing lab, and a university portal for the "Mason Nation." Services include television production, media and multimedia, training, and teaching and learning support.

Sharon is Chair of the Electronic Campus of Virginia, Chair of the Learning Technology Advisory Council to the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia (SCHEV), and an advisory board member of the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program.

Before working at Mason, Sharon was Associate Vice Provost for Learning Technologies at North Carolina State University. At NC State, Sharon co-chaired the development of NC State's quality enhancement plan for reaffirmation of accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. From 2002 - 2004, Sharon served as Board Chair of the Teaching and Learning Technology Collaborative of the University of North Carolina system.

In 2004, Sharon was a Fellow of the Frye Leadership Institute.
