Wendell A. BarbourWendell A. BarbourBiographyWendell Barbour is the Dean of the Library at Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia. He is an experienced practitioner of incorporating information literacy into several university campus programs. He served as Vice President for Information Resources and Chief Information Officer at California State University, Bakersfield from 1996-2004. He had responsibility for all information resources activities, including the library, academic and administrative computing, telecommunications and campus web services. Before going to California, he served as Dean of Academic Support at Christopher Newport University (CNU) in Newport News, VA from 1983-1996. During his tenure at CNU, he had responsibility for the registrar, admissions, financial aid, international studies, online degree departments. He also served as liaison to the Virginia General Assembly, and co-chaired CNUâs Southern Association of Colleges and Schools decennial self-study.
