Abstract:

Rather than make the significant investment required for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, some campuses explicitly choose a strategy of retaining and renewing their legacy systems. This Research Bulletin presents findings from case studies conducted at institutions making this choice, with a focus on reasons for retaining legacy systems, approaches to renewing and extending these systems, and critical success factors.
