Abstract:

This research bulletin is the first of two bulletins devoted to digital rights management (DRM). It suggests a model for a DRM "ecosystem" in the higher education community and demonstrates how it can be used to structure an analysis of DRM requirements, offers current and potential solutions, and identifies gaps and issues in supporting these requirements. The second bulletin examines implementation of DRM in higher education.
