Research PublicationsECAR delivers a variety of research and analytical reports designed to foster dialogue and enhance decision-making among its college and university clients. The products range from short, timely analytical summaries to major research reports. Case Studies Institution-specific or topic-specific reports designed to exemplify important themes, trends, and experiences in the management of information technology investments and activities. Case Studies relate to, and are undertaken as part of, specific ECAR Research Studies. ECARtoons A library of commissioned cartoons that commemorate illustrative moments from ECAR symposia. Executive Summaries ECAR Executive Summaries, formerly ECAR Roadmaps, synthesize important information technology issues and provide recommendations for action in higher education. The content draws from ECAR Research Studies and Case Studies. Infographics Illustrations and graphics relating to ECAR research. Key Findings A brief, high-level summary of the scope of a specific ECAR research study, the methodology used to conduct the research, and the key results and discoveries. Key Findings relate to a specific ECAR Research Study and are available to the public. Key Findings are now published on ECAR research hubs. Occasional Papers Occasional papers are topic-specific reports designed to cast new light on important issues, themes, and trends in areas related to ECAR's mission and activities. Presentations Presentations developed by ECAR research fellows, partners, and contractors on topics of interest to the higher education community, including summaries from major ECAR studies. Re-publication or repurposing of ECAR Research Presentations may occur only with written permission of EDUCAUSE and in certain cases, the author(s). Research Bulletins These frequent electronic updates provide an overview of key IT developments and illustrate their impact on higher education. Research Bulletins provide concise, insightful analyses of current topics that may range from products/services to policy. One goal of ECAR Research Bulletins is to provide credible, thoughtful and timely analysis of important developments soon after news or other announcements have been made. Research Reports These reports reflect substantial research efforts of strategic importance to higher education such as wireless networking, trends in outsourcing and co-sourcing, and pedagogical and support issues associated with e-learning.
