 Robert Berthel Kvavik, right, appointed Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit | His Majesty King Harald V of Norway has appointed Robert Berthel Kvavik Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit for his promotion of research and university collaboration between the United States and Norway. His majesty has honored Kvavik for his efforts to develop Scandinavian studies in North America as president of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study and for collaboration between the United States and Norway in political science and research administration and innovative use of technology in higher education. Kvavik, a professor of political science and associate vice president of capital planning at the University of Minnesota, was an ECAR Senior Fellow from 2002 to 2006 and coauthored several important ECAR studies. Kvavik was presented with the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by Øystein Braathen, the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit chief of chancellery, on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at the offices of the U.S.-Norway Fulbright Foundation for Educational Exchange in Oslo, Norway. |
