ECAR and EDUCAUSEEDUCAUSE is an international, nonprofit association whose mission is to help shape and enable transformational change in higher education through the introduction, use, and management of information resources and technologies in teaching, learning, scholarship, research, and institutional management. EDUCAUSE programs include professional development activities, strategic and policy initiatives, publications, and online information services. The EDUCAUSE mission of enabling higher education's transformation through information technologies is accomplished by bringing people and information together in ways that foster learning, action, and professional development. EDUCAUSE programs include policy development and advocacy; specialized initiatives such as the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) and Net@EDU; and recognition programs, conferences, workshops, publications, and the EDUCAUSE Web site. EDUCAUSE delivers its mission on behalf of member institutions and corporations and through a variety of affiliations and partnerships throughout higher education. The research scope of the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research was conceived to complement and build on this work. Through a network of scholars, analysts, researchers, and practitioners, ECAR collects and analyzes meaningful information about the use and management of IT in higher education to provide decision makers with reliable, data-driven analysis rather than anecdotes.
