- Case Study Role-Play (Moderator: Worona )
We'll dramatize a technology policy story from current headlines, with audience members serving as (unrehearsed) protagonists. Some past titles: "The Dean's Hard Drive", "The Departmental Data Spill", and "dvdecrypt.com". One of the most popular features of the Annual Seminar, the role play is both entertaining and enlightening. - Copyright I & II (Petersen; Crews [Copyright , TEACH ]; McDonald [PowerPoint , Outline ])
Institutional copyright policies continue to command the attention of technology staff and other campus administrators. These sessions start with the basics of copyright law and move on to cover a range of issues from ownership of copyrighted works to uses of works created by others. Throughout the sessions, the focus will be on exploring campus policy options in the context of the existing legal framework, and will include extended time for discussion.
Friday, July 1
- Privacy Issues and Options (McDonald )
- What to Watch for Next (Mitrano & Worona)
Facilitated by ICPL's co-directors and calling on the cumulative expertise of our speakers and audience, this session is a look over the horizon, speculating on the otherwise unmentioned hot topics we're likely to confront between this Tenth Annual Seminar and next year's Eleventh.
