Pre-Meeting Assignments for Attendees

  1. Read Tom Angelo's article, "Doing Assessment as if Learning Matters Most," (AAHE Bulletin, Vol. 51, No. 9, May 1999)
  2. Conduct research on assessment resources and practices (where the assessment results are being used, or could be used, for planning, motivating or evaluating transformation of teaching and learning). Complete this research for your institution, and for at least one other institution of higher education.
  3. Review the nine "Principles of Good Practice for Assessing Student Learning http://www.aahe.org/principl.htm, and the ten "Learning Principles and Collaborative Actions" identified by the Joint Task Force on Student Learning http://www.aahe.org/teaching/tsk_frce.htm.
