Who Should Attend?

The Executive Leadership Seminar offers senior IT leaders, academic executives, library directors, presidents, and other higher education executives an opportunity to collaboratively explore and discuss the challenges currently facing IT in higher education. Interaction among the participants and seminar leaders occurs in a small and intimate setting, preceding a larger and broader meeting of higher education IT professionals.

Approach

Shrinking budgets and increasing demands continue to challenge higher education as technology constantly changes the way we work. IT leadership must act strategically in order to maintain and improve the services and support delivered to faculty, students, and staff.

The title of this year's SAC seminars is "Realizing Strategic Integration: Information, Technology, and the Academy." This year's Executive Leadership Seminar will build on this theme and include faculty with roles such as president, policy officer, CFO, and CIO. Participants will engage with the faculty in debate and dialogue, culminating in a small group problem-solving exercise designed to identify practical strategies to implement at home institutions.

Participants in the Executive Leadership Seminar are also encouraged to attend this year's Directors Leadership Seminar, immediately following the Executive Leadership Seminar, where provocative speakers will spark discussion and encourage higher education IT leaders to take part in highly interactive conference sessions.

Preconference Requests

Before the seminar, participants will be contacted by e-mail and asked to respond to a set of questions regarding issues at their institutions and their expectations for the seminar. The answers will be sent to the program chairs and speakers to assist them with final agenda session planning.
