May 5, 2005 1:00 p.m. EDT (12:00 p.m. CDT, 11:00 a.m. MDT, 10:00 a.m. PDT); runs one hour Outsourcing and OffshoringSpecial Guest Sandra Senti In September 2004, Sandra Senti assumed responsibility for information services in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. She directs all aspects of infrastructure, services, and support for the division and the Pritzker School of Medicine, working closely with both central university and hospital IT groups. Before coming to the University of Chicago, Senti was responsible for computing technology at Stanford University, including the overall technology strategy for the enterprise; infrastructure development and deployment; and operations of academic, administrative, and infrastructure computing. In recent years, she has focused on providing infrastructure services and systems in the enterprise that provide common identity management, authentication, and authorization to both enterprise and departmental applications. Senti holds a BS in computer engineering and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. SummaryYour host, Steve Worona, will be joined by Sandra Senti, and the topic will be "Outsourcing and Offshoring." Outsourcing and offshoring provide opportunities for cost reduction and service improvements. It is important, however, to carefully select target tasks and services and to have appropriate controls in place.
