As we continue to face times of constrained resources, it is even more important for our institutions to focus on developing the strengths and leveraging the talents of our faculty and staff. This year's conference, "Developing Our Strengths, Leveraging Our Talents, Inspiring Our Campuses," explored how our roles across the institution enable innovation as higher education paradigms shift significantly and as we are required to provide ever-increasing portfolios of service during difficult economic times. What is the perception of the evolving role of IT and the IT organization on our campuses: Commodity service provider? Strategic partner in academic and administrative planning and leadership? Or a balance of the two? How can emerging technology opportunities and organizational capabilities inspire meaningful changes to the way our schools deliver on their core missions? The Rhode Island Convention Center and Westin hotel are centrally located in the historic downtown district of Providence and just a short walk from a variety of local attractions and restaurants. ProgramPreconference seminars were held Monday, March 28, with the full conference program March 29–30, 2011. The program followed these key topic areas:
NEW! Senior Leadership Forum, Monday, March 28, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Join senior IT and library leaders from the Northeast region on the afternoon of March 28, 2011, just prior to the NERCOMP Annual Conference. The meeting will be held in the Rhode Island Convention Center. Please pick up your name badge at the EDUCAUSE registration desk located in the Ballroom Foyer, on the fifth floor of the convention center, before the meeting begins. This event is designed to foster collaboration and share ideas among senior IT and library leaders in the region. The program will include a mix of presentations and facilitated discussion around strategies for addressing some of the issues facing our institutions, with emphasis on the visions and changing roles of senior IT and library leaders as higher education evolves in the 21st century.
