Principles
- ECAR recognizes that it is no longer enough to research information technology (IT) for IT's sake. IT is a means to an end. ECAR's agenda will be broader than building, maintaining, and supporting the IT infrastructure.
- ECAR has been created to respond to the needs of EDUCAUSE members. We will continually assess and monitor our programs and services to ensure that they meet the needs of EDUCAUSE members and ECAR subscribers.
- ECAR research activities will reinforce the EDUCAUSE position of trust within higher education, utilizing ethical and academically credible research methods.
- ECAR will engage EDUCAUSE members and respected practice and opinion leaders in developing its research agenda.
- EDUCAUSE will be a faithful steward of research information.
- While ECAR will actively solicit corporate and foundation views about research priorities and future directions, the views of such organizations will not be allowed to intrude on the integrity of any research initiative.
- ECAR will accomplish much of its program through work with other research organizations. ECAR research alliances and partnerships will be based on mutual respect, compatible missions, and mutual agreement to these principles.
- ECAR respects our subscribers right to privacy. In general subscribers may use the Web site without revealing any personal information.
- Information collected about ECAR subscribers and their institutions will not be shared or sold to third parties.
