POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE: Systems Analyst

CATEGORY: Exempt, 12 months full-time

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, maintain, and enhance a wide variety of software applications which support the Student Information System at the University of Maryland, College Park. One position will support primarily systems for Campus Resident Life, Orientation, and International Education Services. The second position will support systems for Undergraduate Admissions and the Graduate School. Work will include programming on Web platforms as well as on an IBM/MVS mainframe environment, performing analysis, and programming of complex software. A high percentage of the time will be spent hands-on programming.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related major and three years of programming experience. A self motivated and talented individual who likes programming and does not neglect details, and can be creative and flexible while able to work within established framework. Good communication skills and ability to work well with technical as well as non-technical staff are essential. Desirable languages and working knowledge of as many of these as possible: IDEAL, SAS, DataCOM/DB, Perl, Java, UNIX, HTML, MS Access, Visual Basic, object oriented programming, SQL, and database management concepts.
