Basic Function: Performs functions to assist in managing a complex administrative database system and related systems within a well defined environment. Creates programming code for management reports or system’s administration. Resolves issues, problems and provides direct support for system’s users. Process reports and forms from system printers.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide administrative services for SunGard Banner administrative system using a complex Oracle relational database running in a UNIX environment. Provide support for other enterprise systems.
  2. Assist with system’s administration including performing system back-ups/restore, maintenance, printed reports, and software upgrades and installation.
  3.  Working knowledge of Oracle SQL Plus programming to create reports, extract data and update processes.
  4. Create reports and provide user support with WebFocus report writer.
  5. Create data transmission to various subsidiary systems.
  6. Participate in planning and executing projects. Often works as part of a team to accomplish larger tasks.
  7. Document and track work keeping supervisor informed of opportunities, problems or issues
  8. Research methods or offer suggestions for improved system operation and efficiency.
  9. Work with end users to resolve problems and provide training.
  10. Assist in the development of policies and procedures that affect the operation and use of the administrative computing system.
  11. Resolve problems and answer routine questions without direct supervision.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
 
Minimum Position Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of study.
  2. Experience in computer programming languages, database operations in an enterprise environment and report writer software.
  3. Banner administrative system, Oracle PL/SQL and WebFocus experience is highly desirable.  
  4. Ability to work well and relate at various levels with faculty, staff and students.
