UNH’s annual operating budget is $500 million.

The CIO is the University’s senior leader responsible for developing and providing academic, administrative, financial, and strategic information technology (IT) services to the campus. The Computing and Information Services Department provides enterprise IT services to the USNH and the CIO participates in the USNH CIO Council. UNH’s annual central budget for IT services is over $30 million and approximately 170 staff report to the CIO. A strong leadership team supports the CIO in achieving university goals.

The new CIO will be joining the University at an exciting time. Working across the University the CIO will be responsible for assuring the best use of emerging technologies that enhance UNH’s mission and operations.

The specific programs reporting to the CIO include academic technology, administrative computing, telecommunications, networking, desktop computing support, IT project management, and IT Security. UNH follows a responsibility center management budget model that supports planned technology replacement.

The best candidates will bring a balance of experience creating energy around strategic use of IT combined with operational experience that is customer service focused. Ten years of IT experience is required; successful assignments in higher education IT leadership encompassing strategic planning, complex organizational structures, project management, and process improvement is required; and an advanced degree is preferred. Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other administrative units, and a demonstrated success in leadership, including the ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents are necessary.
Candidates who thrive in environments where they lead through influence and persuasion are encouraged to apply.

The University seeks excellence through diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The university prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, or marital status. Application by members of all underrepresented groups is encouraged.
