Description:

The Chief Information Officer is a versatile individual with a background directing and coordinating the activities of a college staff, plus a number of students, engaged in administrative systems, computer operations, networking, help desk, web applications, computer lab support, desk top, audio visual and media services. We are looking for a very well rounded individual with good strategic leadership and project management skills who can work with a variety of academic and administrative staffs.

The CIO will:

Be a member of various college committees

Establish and direct the strategic long-term goals, policies and procedures for an information technology department.

Determine an organization’s long-term systems needs and hardware and software acquisitions to accomplish the organization’s business objectives.

Direct information management budgeting, strategic and tactical planning, business process re-engineering, applications support, network/infrastructure, user services (help desk, desktop support, training, audiovisual and database system strategy.

Oversee planning and implementation of all business information systems, such as student information systems.

Direct the information strategy of the company/site based on forecasting information from senior management.

Set the overall direction of internal business systems. Identify user needs and direct building of IT teams to work across all levels of the organization.

Serve as primary corporate spokesperson for information management.
Explore new technologies for future planning and potential implementation.

Interface with industry on information management and information technology matters.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Position Requirements :

Master’s Degree required Ph.D. preferred;
10+ years of experience in the information technology field as a CIO or Director in a diverse environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have:

Higher education experience in the role of CIO, IT Director or equivalent IT Management position.

Teaching experience with a background of using technology in the classroom.

Varied and strong technical background that would include implementation of higher education administrative / ERP systems (e.g. SunGard’s Banner).

Specific understanding of industry trends and standards required.

Strong end user orientation.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Strong work ethic ready to work extremely hard.

Organizational skills, ability to work with staff and faculty at all skill and management levels.

Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to work with Client senior management team in an effective manner.

A strong understanding of the ‘business’ objectives of the higher education environment.

A strong understanding of federal and state mandates in accordance with PII security requirements.

Strong budget generation and presentation skills for President and Board of Trustees meetings.

Must be:

A Team player.
Certified on ITIL v3 methodologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly responsibility for managing IT employees at the client location.

Responsible for managing and directing subordinate staff and directors. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out oversight responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring, and employee professional development programs; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Handles customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product or the services. Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records. Plans and schedules levels of support according to needs and schedules. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
