Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, seeks a Chief Information Officer and Director of Computing and Information Services to provide executive leadership, vision and direction for the strategic development, use and management of computing and information technology resources to support the mission of the college. The CIO & Director also provides leadership, direction and supervision of the Claremont Intercampus Network Effort (CINE), and is heavily involved in provision of direction for information technologies among The Claremont Colleges consortium. The CIO & Director reports to the President and is a member of the President's Cabinet. The successful candidate will be committed to and skilled in providing outstanding customer service to all campus constituents with regards to computing technologies.

The Computing and Information Services Department currently has 18 full-time staff members organized into three groups: User Support, Data Services, and Systems and Networks. The User Support Group incorporates the CIS Help Desk, audiovisual and multi-media services, web support, desktop support, and printer and copier services and support. The Data Services group is responsible for database systems and programming for administrative applications. The Systems and Networks Group is responsible for maintaining and managing the network and a number of Linux and Windows servers for academic, administrative and institutional use. The Systems and Networks group also provides most of the support to The Claremont Colleges for the Claremont Intercollegiate Network Effort (CINE) and the Sakai Collaborative Learning Environment. CINE advances, maintains and manages the network that links The Claremont Colleges together and to the Internet and Internet2. The CIS budget is currently $2.4 million dollars. Substantial growth over the next five years was an identified requirement in the 2007 Strategic Vision document.

A bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration or a related field, and at least seven years (10+ years preferred) of related experience with increasing responsibility; or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities of the position. A master's degree is desirable but not required.

The Campus
Harvey Mudd College's 33 acre campus is beautifully planned and maintained. Over the past 12 years, HMC has invested $43 million in new construction and substantial renovation of its physical plant. During that same period, all dormitories were renovated substantially, as were several academic buildings. In 2003, HMC implemented an environmentally sensitive master landscaping plan to include indigenous trees planted throughout the campus and native landscaping around the perimeter to create a central "campus oasis."
The Claremont Colleges Consortium

Harvey Mudd College is a member of The Claremont Colleges, a cluster of autonomous institutions, each of which excels in a particular academic niche. The consortium consists of HMC and four other undergraduate colleges: Claremont McKenna College, Pitzer College, Pomona College and Scripps College; two graduate institutions: Claremont Graduate University and Keck Graduate Institute; and the Claremont University Consortium, which is responsible for central resources and programs.
