Position Description:
Saint Louis University invites nominations and applications for the newly created position of Chief Information Technology Officer. Serving as a Vice Provost, the Chief Information Technology Officer will report directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost and will have executive responsibility for the policy-making, planning, development, implementation, and overall administration of computing and related technologies in support of all the University's academic and administrative activities. The Chief Information Technology Officer will also coordinate the delivery of information services for the University's international campus in Madrid, Spain. The director of information technology services for the clinical practices of the University Medical Group (SLUCare)will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of SLUCare,and will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Vice Provost. The Vice Provost will chair the University's Technology Planning Council and be responsible for developing a strategic technology plan for the future. Saint Louis Univerisity is committed to expanding its distance learning programs and the Vice Provost will chair the Distance Learning Task Force. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a clear vision of technology's role for the future of higher education, proven leadership and interpersonal skills, effective planning and problem-solving abilities, and strong technical expertise. Candidates must possess the ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, establish consensus on common technology goals,and balance centralized policies with decentralized but compatible applications. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible managerial experience with a variety of technology-related areas is required. Applications are sought from individuals having demonstrated success in: managing complex information technology resources in a research university; providing high quality service to users as a fundamental commitment; securing financial support for campus technology needs; and developing partnerships to enhance academic and administrative information systems. An advanced degree in an appropriate field is required. Saint Louis University is a Catholic, Jesuit Institution of higher education, founded in 1818.
