Description:

Coordinates the collection development activities of the Vancouver subject liaison librarians; serves as a subject liaison to selected academic departments; monitors and revises collection policies as needed. Serves as the Vancouver campus liaison to the WSU Libraries Collection Management Working Group (CMWG); collaborates and negotiates shared access and costs for licensed and purchased electronic resources within the CMWG context: coordinates with the other WSU libraries on overarching multi-campus collection management issues. Manages collection assessment and data preparation for strategic planning and accreditation review. Recognizes the WSU Vancouver campus’ commitment to diversity and actively integrates it into collection development activities. Chairs the Vancouver Collection Development Working Group, which is the workflow management committee for Vancouver collections. Manages electronic resource acquisitions and renewal; responsible for licensing activities including mapping terms to the electronic resource management system; works closely with the Electronic Services Librarian in Vancouver in setting up access to electronic resources. Manages the purchase of monographic library materials, including selecting venders, ordering and receiving materials, and managing fund accounts and payments. Oversees collection management of monographs, including weeding, and disposal of materials; oversees expenditure of gift funds for collections and manages receipt of gifts in kind. Oversees serials acquisitions, including selection and cancellation projects as necessary. Supervises all technical services (cataloging, acquisitions, serials) activities; supervises and conducts performance reviews of 1.5 FTE staff. Serves as a reference librarian for designated hours on the reference desk and provides information literacy instruction as needed in liaison areas. Participates in professional and scholarly organizations and serves the university by conducting research, writing and speaking. Engages in service activities within the WSU Libraries, the University, and the community.

Required Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS or equivalent; three years of professional experience in an academic library; professional experience with collection development in an academic library; experience providing reference services; demonstrated commitment to cultivating diversity through activities within the Library, the university, or community; supervisory experience in a library environment; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with collection management practices in a multi-campus system; familiarity with Innovative Interfaces; experience in collection usage data analysis; demonstrated collection development competence in a specific academic discipline; experience working in a growing, ambiguous, innovative academic environment; experience providing information literacy instruction; demonstrated knowledge of technical services functions; and demonstrated experience in an innovative, collaborative environment.
