CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, SACRAMENTO A Premier Metropolitan University Announcement of Vacancy Student Technology Center Coordinator The Coordinator for the Student Technology Center (STC) is responsible for organizing, planning, implementing and prioritizing the instructional/multimedia development, training, and faculty/student consultation activities of the Student Technology Center. Duties include surveying the student population to assess priority student needs, engaging faculty in ascertaining relevant needs for academic/instructional pursuits, and working with other IRT staff professionals to best acquire and utilize resources congruent with the needs of the Center. Based on input from students and faculty, the Coordinator plans and implements training and consultation solutions that assist students with the use of technology in their curricular programs, as assigned by faculty. The incumbent coordinates all relevant activities necessary to enable effective STC services to be developed and deployed as part of the Student Technology Center, including promotional functions, faculty focus groups, student surveys and focus groups, and coordination with academic technology committees and staff. In consultation with the Associate Vice President of Academic Computing Resources, the Coordinator provides leadership and clear direction towards the continuing development of the Student Technology Center function. Additional responsibilities would include coordinating the training activities offered by the division across the campus community. Note: All IR&T employees should be familiar with the mission of the University, the University Strategic Plan, and the campus information technology strategic plan. The primary duties of the STC Coodinator are: o Manage, Organize, Plan, and Prioritize Student Technology Center Activities. o Assess student needs relevant to academic endeavors, both from the student perspective and the faculty perspective. o Provide leadership and goals for the continued operation of the STC while promoting and participating in diverse activities that are within the context of and relevant to the mission of both the university and the STC. o Continually assess needs for student usage of Technology Center o Propose solutions to address needs for students within the context of the Technology Center o Determine instructional-related needs for students utilizing the Technology Center by querying faculty and faculty organizations o Provide training and support for defined software and hardware solutions available to students on campus o Also provide training and support for IRT-supported software and hardware solutions for faculty and staff. o Develop methods for capturing and reporting usage statistics of the Center and related activities o Serve as a liaison to various academic groups and entities around campus in providing insight into student usage and identified needs relevant to the students Education and Experience Requirements: o Four year degree or equivalent experience working with university students in a technology setting o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and faculty o Demonstrated ability to setup, manage, and update PC & Mac software and hardware o Two years experience providing training/consultation to student users of technology Education and Experience Preferred: o Demonstrated ability to develop and implement technology training programs in a higher education setting including students, faculty and staff o Knowledge of and ability to apply instructional development principles o Demonstrated ability to use multimedia and web development software and to train others in use of such software o Demonstrated ability to conduct needs assessments and to use those assessments to design and implement solutions to defined needs o Demonstrated ability to motivate and supervise student employees. o Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and utilize new software on diverse desktop computing environments o Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives o Demonstrated ability to organize resources and people o Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with faculty and students from diverse disciplines and reasonably ascertain relevant needs o Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all areas of campus o Demonstrated ability to advertise or otherwise market effectively available services and their advantages Application Procedure Priority review of applications will begin on November 3, 2008 and will continue thereafter until the position is filled.
