Duties And Responsibilities

Key member of the Application Development team that provides support and enhancements to custom applications. Primary responsibilities include: writing Oracle PL/SQL code and SQL scripts for internal database application, testing and supporting new and existing functionality and handling back-end processes, writing Unix scripts. Researches and analyzes manual processes and automates them whenever possible. Supports third-party applications used throughout the school. Communicates with the team, responds to questions and concerns of school faculty and staff to ensure the accuracy of the data, documents and maintains knowledge base. Successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team in an integrated software development environment. Reports to the Applications Development Manager in LTC of the HGSE.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

Applicants should have a B.S. in Computer Science or related field. Direct "hands-on" experience (2-5 years) along with a high school diploma and appropriate coursework or certification could be considered in lieu of a B.S. degree. Should have experience with Oracle PL/SQL, writing procedures and functions, familiarity with TOAD or equivalent tool, writing UNIX cron jobs, familiarity with bash or other UNIX shells, experience with vi or emacs, knowledge of basic HTML. Experience with CVS or other source control systems. Some knowledge of Perl is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills.
