Reporting to the CIO and University Librarian, the Datatel analyst is primarily responsible for providing technical support and expertise to the University Project’s Office in the utilization of the Datatel Colleague Release 18 system. He/she will be providing analysis in business systems related issues; defines, develops and assists in implementation of all Datatel related projects and assists departments by providing reports, training and documentation as needed. Major Duties: - Acts as liaison between IT and Project’s Office on Datatel initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance in understanding systems functionality and provide expertise in the module set-ups. Attend all Project’s Office team meetings.
- Provide creative problem solving skills and translate business needs to software procedures/business workflow.
- Assist subject matter experts to define and develop reports based on reporting needs.
- Review existing college business practices and make recommendations on how the system can be used to improve internal processes.
- Assists in preparing departmental procedural documentation.
- Ensures effective testing, implementation and instruction of users involving system enhancements.
- Analyzing and writing specifications for new software systems and for changes and enhancements to existing systems.
- Provide training and end user and technical documentation as needed.
- Active projects may include: online campus-wide registration, one card project, transcript scanning project, room scheduling project and varies Web Advisor projects.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum two years prior experience working as a Datatel expert user along with Query Builder report writing, Web Advisor, Communication Management, knowledge of Colleague programming tools (Envision Toolkit), query language and programming techniques, Colleague Unidata file structure.
- Experience in systems analysis with an institution in the higher education.
- Strong communication, analytical and documentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Candidate must be customer service oriented and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience with Active Campus Portal, Active Admissions, Advanced Report Writing tools (data marts, dashboards), a plus.
