PURPOSE:
As Deputy Director, serve as a driving force behind the Center’s world class, transformative media production projects. Report to the Director of the CMI2; responsible for leadership and administration of the Center’s broadcast and media production; work closely with Associate Director of CMI2’s Instructional Solutions Group.

The Yale Center for Media and Instructional Innovation (CMI2) develops leading-edge educational media and courseware and oversees the deployment of Yale's next generation online learning environment, Classes*v2. Through a newly created multi-million dollar facility, The Yale Broadcast and Media Center, we provide state-of-the-art television, radio and Web-based production solutions for the University community.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
• Provide strategic direction in developing new digital media services.
• Work closely with and supporting other strategic units at Yale, such as the Office of Public Affairs and the recently created Office of Digital Dissemination.
• Partner with the Secretary’s Office to develop media productions that promote and leverage Yale’s world class teaching and learning mission.
• Provide senior leadership with engineering systems, including the troubleshooting and maintenance of audio/video production equipment, storage and distribution systems.
• Manage engineering and technical teams in the ongoing design and planning of media and server infrastructure at Yale.
• Provide senior oversight of daily client activities to ensure the proper level of service and staffing is maintained at all times.
• Establish exceptional working relationships with other ITS divisions and groups.
• Manage a diverse team of media technology personnel, both staff and freelance.
• Work with senior faculty and staff to develop media for use in the classroom and online.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree and seven years of relevant professional experience.
• Significant experience working with both commercial and academic clients in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience creating and maintaining budgets and working directly with financial personnel and officers.
• Strong track record in leading diverse teams of 3+ FTEs or greater.
• Significant background in film, television and/or audio production, with a history of completing successful educational and commercial productions.
• Excellent adaptability to meet changing needs within a continuously evolving organizational structure.
• Demonstrated knowledge of studio and HDTV technology and techniques.
• Solid writing and research abilities.
• Appropriate computer skills with a focus in media production tools such as FinalCut pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Pro Tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively.
• Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Excellent project management skills, including managing production schedules and working within tight project deadlines.
• Approachable; excellent ability to work with a broad variety of people individually, in teams and across organizations.
• Highly service-oriented with outstanding attention to detail and quality.
• Deep interest and artistic/creative abilities in technology-assisted teaching and learning.
